Mathematics does not need to be feared. My aim is to inspire you and to give you the confidence to realise that you no longer need my support.
My Style
I am a fun-loving individual who is extremely passionate about Mathematics and helping students learn in a fun way.
I really enjoy showing students that it is actually an easy subject and building up their mathematical confidence is an important part of my lessons.
I believe that the key to being successful in Maths is self-confidence!
I have excellent communication skills and am very approachable. Students are always comfortable in asking me as many questions as they need to in order to understand the subject. I always remind them that “There is no such thing as a silly question! The more questions you ask, the quicker you will learn”.
Confidence & Inspiration
Mathematics is a maze of many concepts. Too often students try to memorise them which requires intense hours of repetition with little understanding.
I like to bring these concepts into an understandable reality so that the student does not have to memorise. They now understand it. Once they understand it, they do not need long hours of intense repetition as it is now engrained in their way of thinking. I believe that you cannot forget something you understand but it is very easy to forget something that you have simply just memorised.
I like to think that instead of just teaching Mathematics, I inspire students so that eventually they begin to love Maths and no longer need our support.
Personalised Lessons
Each student is different which means that I always tailor my lessons to suit each student's needs. Mathematics can be confusing. I have built a catalogue of techniques to ensure that what seems complex can be understood simply and effectively.
- Personalised homework sheets and booklets focussing on their weaknesses and honing their strengths.
- Worksheets and revision material during and after every lesson so that students have something to reflect on and something to revise from.
- Answer queries via email or Whatsapp so that students can get in touch with me before the next lesson if they are stuck on a topic and need some quick guidance.
But remember, I am not here to give the answers to the questions, but to provide the framework and give the confidence so that the student can attempt it on their own. So even when away from my lessons, my students' abilities and confidence grow!
This has the added benefit of providing me with useful feedback which I take to our future lessons so that the time spent with me is always efficient and targeted to the student's needs.
